Indian Ocean Maldives
Pearls of the Indian Ocean
The Maldives consist of around 1,200 islands and are characterised by crystal-clear water, dreamlike white sandy beaches and a fascinating underwater world. The islands are a true paradise for those seeking relaxation and for nature lovers, with lush flora and a rich, exotic wildlife.
- Condor operates seasonal direct flights from Frankfurt, Munich and Düsseldorf, reaching the Maldives in around 10.5 hours; from Malé, a seaplane or speedboat transfer then takes you on to your island, depending on the resort's location.
- The dry season from December to April brings classic postcard weather with around 8–9 hours of sunshine daily and temperatures of 28–31 °C, while the slightly wetter months from May to November are ideal for surfing and manta ray encounters.
- The "one island, one resort" concept makes every stay a private retreat, complemented by the iconic overwater villas that have come to symbolise the Maldives worldwide.
- A stopover in Dubai, Doha or Istanbul combines effortlessly with your onward journey, as does pairing the Maldives with Sri Lanka for travellers who want to combine culture with island time.
- Spread across 26 atolls and more than 1,000 coral islands, with a highest point of only around 5 metres, the Maldives is one of the flattest countries on Earth.
- At Hanifaru Bay in Baa Atoll, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, dozens of manta rays and whale sharks gather seasonally in one of the ocean's most spectacular natural events.
- The islands' culinary range spans private sandbank dinners, underwater restaurants and freshly grilled fish served right on the jetty.
- Overwater villas with private pools and direct lagoon access, along with floating spas, rank among the most luxurious accommodation concepts in the world.
- A private catamaran trip to an uninhabited sandbank, diving among turtles and eagle rays, or a sunset dolphin cruise turn every day into an experience of its own.
- Few destinations embody honeymoons quite like the Maldives — every resort is designed for uninterrupted togetherness and discreet privacy, making it an equally perfect choice for anniversaries.

Frequently asked questions
The best time to visit the Maldives is between November and April, during the dry season. This period brings sunny days, little rainfall, and ideal conditions for beach holidays, diving, and snorkelling. The months of January to March are especially popular, as the weather tends to be particularly stable and pleasant. The rainy season runs from May to October, bringing occasional short but intense showers.
The ideal length of stay depends entirely on your personal preferences — particularly how much you enjoy a beach and bathing holiday. As a general guideline, we recommend a stay of 7 to 12 nights. The Maldives comprise numerous islands of varying sizes, which can also be combined with one another for a richer experience.
Among our favourite combinations are the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, and Singapore. All three destinations offer direct flights to the Maldives and pair beautifully with city life, culture, and safari experiences. If you are drawn to something more exotic, we recommend combining your journey with India — an equally magical round trip, concluding with restful days on the Maldives.
