Due to the changing climate conditions, the Maldives can be visited year-round, so the best time to travel depends on what you wish to experience.
From the airport in Malé, depending on the location of the resort, a seaplane or speedboat takes you on to your island. Some resorts are reached by a short domestic flight followed by a boat transfer. In many cases, you can rest and freshen up in the resort's own lounge after your journey, before a hotel representative accompanies you to your transfer.
Choose the island with care: size, privacy, house reef and villa category make the difference. Many couples choose a beach or overwater villa with a private pool to enjoy the greatest possible privacy. Please let us know about your honeymoon when booking, so that we can include special touches such as a private dinner on a sandbank. If your name changes through marriage, the name on your booking and flight ticket must match exactly the passport you travel with. If you travel shortly after the wedding on your existing passport, we book under your current name.
Dine-around describes a dining concept in which you are not tied to a single restaurant but can move between several. Depending on the resort, these are the various restaurants on your own island or restaurants on neighbouring islands of the same resort group, which you reach comfortably by boat transfer. This lets you experience different cuisines, from grilled fish on the beach to a fine-dining menu. Which restaurants are included depends on the resort, the meal plan and the villa category. We would be delighted to advise you personally and choose the resort according to the cuisine that matters most to you.
German citizens do not need to apply for a visa in advance. A free tourist visa for up to 30 days is issued on arrival. In addition, all travellers must complete the free online Traveller Declaration (IMUGA) within 96 hours before arrival. Your passport must be valid for at least one month on arrival, and you should be able to show proof of accommodation and onward or return travel.
