Caribbean Mexico

Cultural Treasures and Coastlines

Mexico lies between the Pacific and the Caribbean and stretches from the highlands around Mexico City through the jungles of Yucatán to the desert coast of Baja California. In the capital, the historic centre and the canals of Xochimilco are UNESCO World Heritage, and Pujol and Quintonil each hold two Michelin stars. In Yucatán, Maya sites such as Chichén Itzá rise from the jungle, the Caribbean coast of the Riviera Maya opens up between cenotes and restored haciendas, and off Baja California gray and humpback whales pass in winter. Whether honeymoon, cultural journey or family stay by the sea, on an individual journey we shape Mexico privately and with time for what matters. It combines well with Belize and Guatemala.

  • From Frankfurt, Condor flies nonstop to Cancún every day in around 11.5 hours, Lufthansa connects Frankfurt and Munich nonstop with Mexico City in about 12 hours, and seasonal direct flights from Frankfurt serve Los Cabos; from there, a private transfer takes you on to your hotel.
  • The dry season from December to April brings daytime temperatures of mostly 27–31 °C to Yucatán and the Riviera Maya, while Mexico City stays mild year-round and the whale season off Baja California falls in the same months, making this period suitable for all three regions.
  • Mexico can be experienced as a private tour with your own guide, as a self-drive journey through Yucatán or as a resort stay on the coast, with domestic flights of a few hours linking the regions and Mexico City and Yucatán combining particularly well.
  • Mexico works as a stand-alone destination or combines well with Belize and Guatemala, for instance with an excursion to the Maya temples of Tikal.
  • Mexico borders the Pacific, the Gulf of California, the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean – between its coasts lies the highland around Mexico City at roughly 2,240 metres.

Frequently asked questions

Given the flight time of around 11 to 12 hours, we recommend at least 7 to 10 days for a single region. If you combine Mexico City and Yucatán, 10 to 14 days work best: around three to four nights in the capital, followed by Mérida, a hacienda or the Riviera Maya. Baja California suits a journey of its own of about a week, for example during the whale season. We balance the length of your stay so that there is enough calm between sightseeing and time by the sea.

Citizens of the European Union and Switzerland do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 180 days. You need a passport that remains valid for at least six months upon entry and the free tourist card (FMM). Please use official channels only, as some websites charge a fee for arranging it. We will go through the current entry requirements with you in good time before your departure.

Mexico City and Yucatán combine particularly well: museums and cuisine in the capital, followed by Maya sites such as Chichén Itzá, cenotes and the Caribbean coast. From Yucatán, the journey can be extended to Belize or Guatemala and the temples of Tikal. Baja California, with Los Cabos and the winter whales, works as a journey of its own or as an addition to the capital by domestic flight. We shape the route around your wishes and arrange flights, transfers and guided visits.

No vaccinations are required for direct entry from Germany. Up-to-date standard vaccinations such as tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, measles and polio are recommended, along with vaccination against hepatitis A. As mosquitoes transmit dengue and Zika, good insect protection is advisable, especially during the rainy season. Mexico City lies at around 2,240 metres, which is why many guests allow a day or two to acclimatise. We ask you to seek advice from your doctor or a tropical medicine institute a few weeks before departure, and we recommend travel health insurance.

The security situation in Mexico varies considerably from region to region. Established destinations such as Mexico City, Yucatán with Mérida, the Riviera Maya and Los Cabos are considered well suited to travel with the usual precautions, and according to the US State Department, violence is not directed at tourists. We plan with private transfers and experienced guides and schedule overland drives during daylight hours. Before booking and departure, we check the current advice of the German Federal Foreign Office for your route.

This is where you dream journey starts.
