The best Honeymoon-Hotels in den Maldives

Honeymoons are our speciality, and no destination is requested for them as often as the Maldives. The islands drew me in, too, a few years ago. Since then I travel there regularly, always asking which hotels suit a honeymoon best. Many resorts can only be reached by boat, domestic flight or seaplane, and it is exactly this seclusion that makes them places where newlyweds can enjoy the days after the wedding in peace.

Soneva Jani

The choice in the Maldives is wide, and new resorts and islands open every year. That makes it all the more important to find the island that suits your wishes. Many islands are man-made, while others are natural and often offer a lively house reef right in front of the villa, ideal for anyone who enjoys snorkelling or diving.

Get in touch, and we will personally recommend the island that fits your honeymoon. Start your no-obligation travel enquire here.

For those seeking peace and quiet

    Kudadoo Maldives Private Island

On the small private island in Lhaviyani Atoll, only 15 Ocean Residences stand above the lagoon, each with its own infinity pool and personal butler. The concept “Anything, Anytime, Anywhere” means that nearly everything is included in the stay, from dinners you enjoy on the beach, on your terrace or in the restaurant, as you wish, to unlimited treatments at the Sulha Spa, water sports and diving excursions. You decide anew each day how it should unfold, with no bill to hold you back. A special extra is the visit to the underwater restaurant 5.8 at sister resort Hurawalhi.

    For snorkelling enthusiasts

    Veligandu Maldives Resort Island

The island in North Ari Atoll underwent a comprehensive renovation completed at the end of 2024 and presents itself anew. The Ocean Pool Villas stand on stilts above the lagoon and can be chosen facing the sunrise or the sunset. The Sunset Ocean Pool Villa offers 152 sqm, and the à la carte breakfast is included here. Each villa has a broad sun terrace with a private pool and direct access to the turquoise lagoon.

Veligandu is especially well suited to snorkelling and diving enthusiasts. The glass floor of the villas opens the view to the underwater world, you step straight from the jetty into the house reef, and the atoll’s dive sites are known for hammerhead sharks. I have seen dolphins and turtles here myself while snorkelling in the house reef.

    For the playful

    Soneva Jani

Soneva Jani in Noonu Atoll is made for couples who seek space and quiet. The villas are exceptionally generous: the One Bedroom Beach Hideaway measures 480 sqm, the One Bedroom Water Reserve with Slide 555 sqm. Each has a private pool, and in the overwater villas, a slide of your own leads from the terrace straight into the lagoon. The villas lie on a 5.6-kilometre lagoon that the resort privately surrounds, and are 35 minutes from Malé by speedboat. Evenings can be shaped entirely around your wishes: with a private dinner by the water, a meal under the stars with an astronomer, or an open-air film night. At the Soneva Soul Spa, massages, Ayurveda and yoga round off the days.

    For adults only

    Hurawalhi Island Resort

Hurawalhi is an island for couples who wish to stay among adults: it welcomes guests aged 15 and over. The highlight is the restaurant 5.8, which invites you to lunch and dinner 5.8 metres below the surface of the sea, with fish drifting past outside. A lively house reef surrounds the island, ideal for snorkelling and diving, and there is a PADI dive school and a Marine Biology Centre. For a honeymoon, the Romantic Ocean Villa (105 sqm) suits well, with a hammock net over the water and a bathtub, or the Ocean Pool Villa (132 sqm) with a private infinity pool above the lagoon. At the Sulha Spa, massages can also be booked as couples’ treatments. From Malé, you reach the island in 40 minutes by seaplane.
