Cuisine
At the interactive kitchen of andBeyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge, guests become part of the culinary experience themselves: cook alongside the lodge's chefs to create your own dishes and menus. A range of indoor and outdoor dining spaces means you'll never have to dine in the same spot twice – from the central bar built of local granite to your own private veranda beneath the stars.
A true highlight is the Star-Lit Private Room Dinner: a romantic dinner for two on your suite's private veranda, accompanied by sundowners and the infinite desert horizon, followed by private stargazing through the skylight above your bed. The walk-in wine cellar offers a fine selection of local and international wines, while each suite's personal bar is stocked with Namibian brands including Stillhouse Atlantic spirits, Jewel of Namibia whiskey and Tafel Lager beer, curated by your personal butler.
Wellness
The lodge's two-part, sunset-facing wellness centre offers a treatment room and a wet treatment room with shower and bath for treatments in partnership with Healing Earth, a leading, eco-friendly spa and skincare company whose formulations are inspired by the wisdom of Africa's traditional healers and use only all-natural ingredients and essential oils.
For an active start to the day, the sunrise-view gym, equipped with treadmill, weights and yoga mats, is perfect for an early-morning yoga session or a quick run before breakfast. Every suite also features its own private plunge pool for a refreshing dip after a day in the desert heat, set within your private veranda alongside a fire bowl and endless dune views.
Experiences
The andBeyond Sossusvlei Private Desert Reserve offers a rich programme for explorers: the Living Dune Experience heads out on foot or by quad bike to the dunes of the reserve to uncover the geology and wildlife of the oldest desert on Earth. The Big Dune Walk invites you to climb the endless rolling star dunes – exclusive to the private reserve, followed by a well-deserved picnic breakfast – while the half-day Dune Walk into the Namib-Naukluft National Park leads to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Namib Sand Sea, the iconic Deadvlei, and the towering "Big Daddy" dune.
For active exploration, choose between two hiking trails (2.2 km or 3.4 km) or e-biking routes (11 km or 19 km), which can also be combined as a "bike and hike" adventure. The Desert People Experience leads to San rock art and the culture of Southern Africa's oldest inhabitants, while the Desert Rock Experience explores the region's unique geology, shaped after the break-up of Gondwana. Scenic desert drives cross four distinct habitats, and optional hot air balloon and helicopter flights offer a bird's-eye view of the dune fields. By night, the on-site observatory, equipped with a Celestron CPC 1100 telescope, hosts guided stargazing sessions with a visiting astronomer – Namibia's night sky is among the darkest ever recorded.
